Moody Engagement Session at Suntop Fire Lookout, Washington

There is nothing more perfect than summer in Washington State. Most days are clear, warm, and sunny from early July until the beginning of September. While everyone is chasing the perfect sunrise or sunset to illuminate their photoshoot, we (Sanne & Brooke) always love when the weather surprises us and gives us those typical moody PNW vibes. This is exactly what happened during Aditi’s and Manav’s engagement session!

6 Tips for your rainy engagement session or elopement

We get it, no one wants rain during their photoshoot. But let us tell you a little secret… rain or fog doesn't matter as long as you have fun with it and trust that your photographer knows what to do. Some of the most incredible photos we captured were shot during moody weather! But if the idea of rainy weather during your photoshoot makes you nervous, here are some tips on how to get the best photos when it rains:

  1. Like we said before: HAVE FUN WITH IT and get messy! Jump in the puddles and catch raindrops with your tongue.

  2. Worried about your makeup? Leave it at home or take your makeup with you so we can do touch-ups during your session. Also, we will always let you know if your mascara gets runny and there is nothing we can’t fix in Photoshop ;)

  3. We always bring clear umbrellas with us. These are super cute props in photos!

  4. Bring extra layers/towels for when you get cold.

  5. Bring an extra set of clothing you can wear during your car ride back

  6. Last but not least, Focus on each other! Let your partner wipe the rain off your face and cuddle up to make each other warm.
