Winter Mountain Elopement in Washington State | Mt Baker Ski Area

Is there anything more magical than getting married in a winter wonderland? Feeling like you are stuck together in a giant snow globe? We are absolutely in LOVE with snowy winter elopements because of the magical scenery and the extra cuddling up you’ll have to do to keep each other warm and cozy!

Washington State is stacked with stunning locations for your winter wedding, but our all-time favorite spot during winter is Artist Point at Mount Baker Ski area. We got so excited when Caryl & Darius inquired and mentioned that one of their first adventures together was in the North Cascades! It made perfect sense to go back there and celebrate their relationship at the place where it all started! And as many of you know.. we both (Sanne & Brooke) start jumping up and down when we get an opportunity to go back to The North Cascades because it is our FAVORITE area in all of Washington State!

3 things you need to know before planning a winter wedding

Planning a winter elopement/wedding can be a little bit tricky, but it is totally doable! Here are some things to keep in mind when you start planning your winter adventure:

1. winter weather in the washington mountains can be UNPREDICTABLE!

We can’t say this enough, but the weather in the mountains during winter can be extremely unpredictable! We always tell our couples to be open-minded about the weather because there is a good possibility that you’ll have to change your plans last minute! We always make sure that our couples have a plan A, B, and C in case of road closures or avalanche danger.

2. Always have a backup plan

We have you covered! We’ll make sure we have a backup plan just in case the weather decides to change. Most mountain areas have beautiful, lush forest trails, or you can totally change your location and go somewhere else! We of course will help you every step of the way!

3. Bring layers, layers, and more layers for your winter wedding!

The photos might seem magical, but let us tell you a little secret… it was FREEZING! We are talking 28 degrees with wind gusts that can be very unpleasant when you are not prepared! Make sure to bring plenty of layers like jackets, fleece leggings, thermo underwear, wedding attire with long sleeves, blankets, and other warm accessories. And of course… don’t forget to snuggle up! Also, we will make sure to bring the hand warmers! ;)
