Katy and Kendra’s mountain wedding in the North Cascades was a perfect blend of adventure, intimacy, and spontaneity. Over two days, they embraced the beauty of the fall season, shared heartfelt moments, and navigated unexpected challenges with grace.
Day 1: A Forest Cabin, First Look, and Sunset Vows
Katy and Kendra’s elopement began in the heart of the North Cascades, tucked away in a charming A-frame cabin surrounded by towering evergreens. The morning was slow and intentional—filled with quiet anticipation as they got ready separately, each taking in the significance of the day ahead. Before heading into the mountains, they shared a first touch—a tender moment to hold hands and exchange a few heartfelt words without yet seeing each other.
Joined by their adventurous pup, they set off for the trails, lacing up their hiking boots for the journey ahead. They helped each other with final touches—an effortless reflection of their partnership. With it being one of the busiest weekends of the season at Artist Point, we pivoted our plans to ensure their experience felt as intimate and personal as they had envisioned.
Rather than navigating the crowds, we found a peaceful overlook above Bagley Lakes for their first look. The golden hues of fall wrapped around them as they took in the moment, the stillness of the lake below offering the perfect setting for their emotional first embrace.
From there, we made our way toward Artist Point, their original ceremony location. But with the bustling crowds, we opted for a hidden gem—a secluded ridgeline just a mile off the main trail, offering panoramic views of Mount Shuksan and Mount Baker.
As the sun dipped lower, casting a golden glow over the peaks, Katy and Kendra exchanged their vows in the crisp high-elevation mountain air. The moment was raw and beautiful, their words carried by the breeze and framed by the sweeping alpine backdrop.
The evening unfolded with breathtaking portraits bathed in soft sunset light. And as if the day wasn’t magical enough, a distant black bear made a quiet appearance—an unexpected yet fitting touch to their wild and unforgettable adventure.
Day 2: Windy Adventures and a Secluded Picnic
The next morning, Katy and Kendra embraced the spirit of adventure once more. Swapping their outfits for a fresh look, they set out before sunrise, determined to reach the mountain top of Table Mountain for another round of portraits.
Unlike the previous evening’s golden light, the day greeted us with fierce winds and moody skies. The exposed ridgeline was raw and untamed, making every step along the jagged rock face feel exhilarating. They leaned into the elements, holding onto each other through the gusts, laughter spilling into the wind. Though the conditions were intense, the views of glacial lakes and rugged peaks made every effort worth it.
After descending from Table Mountain, we pivoted once again, seeking shelter from the wind for their first dance and picnic. Returning to the serene shores of Bagley Lakes, we found the fall foliage at its peak—vibrant golds and deep oranges painting the landscape. Among the fiery shrubs, Katy and Kendra swayed to their first dance, wrapped in a moment that felt like it belonged in a fairytale.
To close out their elopement day, they laid out a simple yet meaningful picnic, savoring the final moments of their two-day adventure. With the mountains towering behind them and the crisp autumn air settling in, they soaked in the beauty of a day designed entirely around their love—wild, intentional, and deeply unforgettable.
